The fashion industry has taken a few credible knocks over the years. Now UV protection is a consideration that has been brought up lacking in the fashion industry, but industry leaders seem happy to co-operate. Citing it as simple oversight, the industry’s most prolific designers have made an effort to incorporate fabrics for UV protection into their summer collections. Queensland University of Technology fashion lecturer, Dean Brough lead a study into how designers, media and cancer advocacy groups can make SPF and UV protection attractive to impressionable fashionistas. Just as mens work overalls protect the skin from cuts and abrasions, UV clothing provides the wearer’s skin with protection from the sun’s rays.
