Health and Safety Clothing Tips for Summer Working
Although with winter safety clothing with the purpose of warmth is quite a natural response to the changing seasons, but when summer comes around we tend to be a tad bit too relaxed. There is just as much a reason to stay vigilant during the fun in the sun season as there is to remain warm in winter. It’s easy to slip up during summer because we associate it with good times and fun, but there’s never a reason not to be safe on the job. While you may find sweaty hands to be uncomfortable, don’t forgo wearing your rigger gloves for example. Just because it’s sunny out, don’t neglect to wear your hi-vis safety clothing. There are just a few of the things we may be tempted to ignore because of the sense of carefree summer bestows upon us.
While safety clothing and equipment may not help us cool down during a hot day, we should balance out wearing enough of it to be safe and as little of it as we can to avoid heat exhaustion; the main thing is to be appropriate, for example wear clothing or safety boots if the situation calls for it. Light-weight bright clothing is best for reflecting light and hats or umbrellas can really come in handy.
Another aspect perhaps even more important than a hi-vis vest on a hot day is remaining hydrated. This is one area safety clothing gear isn’t going to automatically save you; you need to make the effort to seek out refreshment and rehydrate. Sun stroke is a very definite and potentially life threatening condition no one should toy with. Safety clothing suppliers in the UK should also have flasks or coolers available for sale; stocking a cooler up with water and cool food should not only keep you safe but you’ll feel really good too. Safety clothing for men makes them feel somewhat invincible, but the sun can be a silent if not bright danger that threads alone cannot protect you from. Combining safety clothing with healthy habits will keep you protected and healthy this summer.
