PostHeaderIcon Could the Red Wine Pill help Fight Disease?

It might be common knowledge that a glass of red wine a day is good for the heart and helps keep cholesterol levels under control – but the “red wine pill” is a lesser-known development that’s causing a stir in the medical industry. About 20 years ago, scientists using French translation in London to investigate the low rate of heart disease in France made the connection between the amount of red wine consumed daily by the French, and the protection from ailments like heart disease. Further research led to the discovery of resveratrol, the plant chemical that gives red wine its rich colour, and acts as a powerful antioxidant.

More recently, a resveratrol pill was created with the intent of providing all the health benefits of red wine, without the alcoholic content. This “red wine supplement” contains antioxidants found in plants like grapes, cranberries and peanuts, which are useful for protecting against fungal and bacterial infections. Manufacturers claim that a resveratrol pill taken daily can lower the risk of heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and even cancer by preventing the cell damage that could lead to these conditions.
